岩岩今日用銀行帳戶app增值了$100入八達通銀包，然後啫八通通又話啫5到，之前都試過呢個情況，咁跟住我如常咁喺訊息嗰邊度撳返嗰個record嚟增值，點知試咗幾次都得之後直程冇埋個record，跟住睇返八達通銀包訊息嗰度係有出現有$100入帳，但係銀包帳戶餘額嗰度得$0，然後唯有聯絡虛擬助理，跟住佢就話如果銀行到嗰張之後補入到呢個八達通銀包帳戶嘅話會退返款，但我查看返銀行帳戶嗰邊又冇收到錢，然後再睇多次八達通嘅銀包亦都冇錢，想聯絡實體助理又要等到唔係公眾假期，設定非常差

Really need to work on the top up and tapping function. Why sometimes need face id or passcode to make a payment and sometimes does not. So stupid and its really not cool when face id or passcode is suddenly required during peak hour when trying to pass through mtr machine🤦🏿♀️ and the app sometimes disables an octopus for no reason and without telling you, really causing a lot of embarrassing moments.

Since Nov, my octopus apps had problem checking any information and having any edit of my digital octopus . Then soon developed to failing to check any octopus card by tapping the card on my phone ( which I was always able to do so) I called the octopus company and they were looking into it .They called me over and over again, to ask the same questions , what’s the problem I experienced and told me that they are still looking into it. And , it’s now Feb , according to the customer service and IT staff , I should wait for the next version of octopus app and try download it again ?!

Issue with Real-Time Scanning of HKID in Octopus App

I recently attempted to upgrade my wallet within the app, and during the process, the app requires scanning of the HKID. However, I encountered a problem where the id scanner is unable to properly focus. Upon further investigation, I discovered that the app does not automatically switch to the appropriate lens for scanning, resulting in the inability to capture a clear image of the HKID. This is due to the main camera lens for some models (say, iPhone 15) having a focal length that exceeds the distance between the HKID and the phone when the id card aligned with the indicator box, the inability for the phone to focus causing blurry image which make it impossible to successfully scan the id.

The app used to work and allow me to use Apple Pay to top up my Apple Watch linked Octopus card. It used to also allow me to have both my Apple Watch Octopus card, and my iPhone Octopus card on the app. However, it suddenly stopped working and two issues occurred: 1. It will only display one of my cards; 2. It won’t allow me to use Apple Pay.
I have called the Octopus hotline twice, deleted and reinstalled the app over 20 times, and restarted my iPhone multiple times but it still will not work.
The Octopus hotline employees aren’t able to offer much help with the app.

I used your app to top up my Octopus card twice through your app but then only one transaction was topped up successfully but the other one didn’t. My credit card shows that the two amounts were deducted, but the amount that didn’t top up was not refunded. I want to check if there is an enquiry section but it is not available.

Apple staff said that the card on the phone cannot be recovered to the new phone if it’s not successfully disabled in the old phone. Poorly designed workflow make it difficult to transfer to another phone. And there is no way to recover the card if the iPhone is broken or lost. The whole thing is poorly architected in compare with the physical octopus which can last for 7+ years. It’s sad that we still need to live with it.

From the day I started using this app, it has been absolutely amazing & useful in my daily life. The time & effort I had to go through, related to octopus card usage in daily life have changed amazingly. Everything can be done right on the spot. Tried many times to upgrade to pro version, the app never takes the photo of ID card even I followed all instructions with daylight and white sheet as background with no glare. Same for latest released version. While Octopus is pushing users to pro version with June 2022 as deadline in order to continue using existing features, the app doesn’t work and still not fixed nearly end of May, this is very frustrating and so disappointing.

This is the worst eIDV I have ever experienced. I followed the instructions plenty of times to blink my eyes and still fail, and it is not easy to place the eyes to those two small circles, especially for elder people. When hands are slightly moved, then the applicant has to redo it again. I don’t think if remove those two circles while keeping the eye blink detecting function will drastically lower the security or fraud detection level. Second, I cannot use Chinese Pinyin to input my building name. Please fix these defects asap.

The display of an “Apple Pay” logo in the Octopus app after an Octopus card was added to the iPhone wallet has been misleading all customers that Apple Pay function is inherently attached to that new Octopus card. It’s simply NOT true, as I was informed by the Apple Shop representatives, who has confirmed that Octopus card added in the iPhone wallet is only valid for on-site but not for online purchase, in which I found this Apple-specific add-on no different from gluing an Octopus card to an mobile phone.

I have a problem where you cannot transfer your in-phone apple octopus cannot transfer cash to my wallet in the octopus app. It only allows physical octopus. No one will ever answer the phone when I called customer service hotline.

I did the new version upgrade to Octopus App 8.2.0, however the upgrade process is successes but the Octopus App. cannot open, I need uninstall new version revert to previous version again

I can’t update the app with my iOS 14.6. Granted I haven’t updated to 14.7, but if that’s the sole reason, isn’t it too pushy?! Required too much personal information. If it’s just a normal octopus card for daily transaction, I don’t see the point to get my personal ID. Do the staff in 7-11 have to check your ID before you request the top up? If there is a need to check my ID, then why don’t I apply a personal octopus card. Totally non sense.
And I can’t even use the link to the app form my bank to top up.... neither tradition bank nor new virtual bank....
I can only use the this app to check the value and transaction record of my card.

When I want to top up my octopus either from my octopus wallet or FPS, always ask me to scan my octopus before transferring the money but my octopus is installed in my mobile, it’s impossible to scan it. Always takes a couple of times to proceed to top up my octopus. Eventually, I use the Apple Pay to top up my octopus.

Unfortunately I had encountered transaction was failure after we’ve got message from Bank is successful, however the Apps prompt up error message ( the time is over and try again later). The related problem start from yesterday 13 Nov 20. It was bring me trouble and inconvenience caused.

This app is weird, for any icon I clicked, some of them would have no response. Meanwhile, for some interfaces, I fail to find a icon or swipe to exit. As my iPhone 11 is quite new and there isn’t too much app on it, that’s hard to imagine how could an app to be so slow and not usable.
Hence, I dare not to have any transaction with Octopus app. Octopus is strong for its plastic card payment, where transactions are all offline. For app based payment, Octopus is too poor...

Hi, developers,
I woke up to the notification of my phone settings asking me to finish setting up Apple Pay. Since it has been going on for years, I thought I could maybe set up my Octopus. When it said to place my phone on top of my octopus card, I saw a line of text saying after scanning and transferring, I won’t be able to use my plastic octopus card since it’s invalid. I thought it meant temporarily until I finished the scan and it said I could now discard my plastic octopus card now. I freaked out. I thought it was like a thing when you can use octopus from your phone AND the card at the same time, in case you forgot to bring your actual wallet or something.
After this I was extremely devastated. I don’t know how to tell my parents about it, I didn’t even try to read and learn how to make a purchase using the app. I just want to reverse this process. Is it possible? Or my card will be forever trapped because of some dumb settings notification rushing to finish setting up a virtual wallet?

Is good to check your octopus expenses and see where money goes. A few basic updates is still missing:
1. More parametric reports i.e drill down to top vendors, change frequency of expense report (currently only for 3 months).
2. Temporal credit card for online purchases. 3. Bank account transfer
4. octopus to octopus transfer (i.e. between friends)

Thought it convinced me a lot, it seems like there are problems. I use the app to pay product in game, it reject the payment at first and due to not enough money. But I the amount of money inside the app should be enough to pay. I check it and I found that the payment amount is doubled. I didn’t know why the payment amount will be doubled. Just a minute later it accept the payment suddenly. But the main point is that I didn’t get my product in game. What wrong with it? I lost my money and didn’t get the product.
Also, the app cant no update immediately sometimes. I use it to pay, but it didn’t reduce the amount of money. The app get updated of my amount of money when I pay other payment.
Please improve stability and reliability

I once bought hamburger with this. It didn't work. I kept trying and the queue was waiting for me to finish. And I finally succeeded. So embarrassing.
The second big problem is that the balance didn't update immediately after I made a payment. This is annoying. I can't keep track of the balance. This can be embarrassing too when I buy something and there is no deposit left.

I have octopus in my old iPhone, but it seem can’t transfer to my new iPhone, do you have any information or help for this.
If it is cannot fix, I think it is very disappointed and not user friendly.
Some glitches with Apple Watch use / top-up

Excellent all around, except it’s impossible to top up the card on Apple Watch when the phone is on 4G. Attempting to do so shows a “your phone is not connected to the internet message” on the watch, even though iPhone is connected via mobile data / 4G to the web. My phone essentially has to be on WiFi for me to top up Octopus via the Apple Watch. Alternatively, if I need to top up while on the go, I have to transfer the Octopus card back to the phone from the watch. The phone then allows me to top up the card while on 4G. I then have to transfer the card from the phone back to Apple Watch. Cumbersome.

The registration process is easy. I used the first payment without asking to enter a password even the phone is locked. But it asked me to key the phone password to unlock and pay. Why is this happened?

Today octopus can be added to Apple Pay. A lot of promotion and fanfare about this. After I added my Octopus to my Apple Pay, Apple Pay has been trying to add the card for the last six hours. trying to call octopus customer service is useless because it’s all recordings and no one answers. Finally when it answers, a recording asks you to go to the website which has no information whatsoever about how to troubleshoot this problem.
So I have just transferred my physical octopus card into the app which cannot add the card and my remaining value is in limbo while I have no octopus card to use. Well done octopus and Apple Pay!

Tried to transfer physical Octopus card to digital Apple Pay - it deactivated my physical card first but when trying to add the Apple Pay card afterward it says ‘Card could not be added - contact card issuer’. Now I cannot use my Octopus at all until they get this fixed which is very inconvenient. Customer Service hotline said they have no definite timeframe they can give me for a fix and to just ‘keep trying’. They should have tested this properly before release. Very disappointed.

Great that we can now use NFC to tap our cards to see the value and past transactions. But could done much better with the app’s interface by prioritizing what is important.
The main reason why I downloaded the app is to be able to check the value on my card. However, there’s way too much hassle for signing up, requiring both my email and phone number, which I found extremely unnecessary or even a little bit of invasion of privacy. And also there are all that useless information about O! Pay or whatever that is which I do not know what it is.
The app should have your card’s information on the home/first page. So when I open the app that is what we see first because I believe that is the main reason for most of us for downloading this app, while the other functions could be put into other pages.
Please consider using less of our information and make a page dedicated to our Octopus card but not all that crap about O!epay whatever that is.

Using iPhone 8, I upgraded this App to the latest version l. Whenever I started this App. It crashed immediately (within 1 second). The problem still happened even I restart my iPhone.

Rather than using the ePay service to top up, users should be given the choice to just link a bank/credit to the app directly to be used to top up the Octopus, and not having to use or apply for ePay Plus. As this process is done online and involves uploading photos of your personal documents, it raises security concerns and makes the process unnecessarily long-winded and unintuitive, causing a bad user experience. This, I’m currently only using the app to check for balance.

I registered the card to the app. the app will be crashed when reading the card again. the problem persits even after re-installing the app. If I remove the card’s registration from the app. the card can be read for again for once. the app still crash when reading the card again. please help

Octopus, you have existed for more than a decade and yet no improvements or efforts have been made since then. Your only improvement as a company for 10 years is to reduce the size of your cards... May I ask what is this point of this iOS app if users cannot even make payment? I entered cash into this app thinking you guys finally made a breakthrough, and yet it turns out I cannot even buy anything at 711 or pass in subway. This is one of the most shameful developments in technology, especially given you guys had a 10 years headstart in the field.....

I can’t find any serious bugs. You need a reader — cellphone makers should pony-up with Sony and pay so that our iPhones and Androids can read Octopus cards.
After registering a card, it should automatically update usage over cellular data. I should have to keep reading the card.

This is good to hear that there will have support of using octopus in iPhone very soon later on. But, it would be good if current can able to directly make good use of NFC without adopting any additional NFC reader to support octopus scanning and checking of transaction and balance. Or even top up.
I think Suica cars from Japan go into direct and correct way to make good use of iPhone for supporting NFC payment instead of wallet approach.

Octopus has to work with Apple and let customers uses Apple Pay instead of the physical Octopus card (like London, Tokyo, etc...). The current strategy is a pure non sense. Did Octopus sign a deal with Samsung to exclude Apple with the use of the Smart Octopus? Or does Octopus want to keep access over its users personal data when Apple do the opposite? Or is this something else?
This situation has to stop. Most of the users have iPhones, it is now time to make things possible, 6 months ago, an Octopus PR announced the soon compatibility with iOS, since then, nothing. If anyone from the company is reading this, please, show that you care about your customers and give us some updates!
