This app used to be great… no issues. Recently though, every time I open it, it tells me access is restricted until I verify my email. My email hasn’t changed in 10 years. Anyway, I verify my email, and even upload my HKID… then next time I open the app, the same thing appears! Sort it out HSBC.. I know costs are tight, but it’s your customers that make you money (friendly reminder)

Online chat agents weren’t trained to answer questions. They repeated my questions as the answers, meaning problems were left unsolved. Referred to a customer service manager who was also untrained, repeatedly telling me to file a complaint via app message function. She didn’t seem to know the message function was removed from the app, and she was actually responding to my complaint after I found out the message function was gone. She said it would take one month to get back to a general enquiry. No one at hsbc seems to know about anything (product) about the bank they work for

After you updated your app version, I can use very simple password (only 6 numbers)to login my e-banking account. It is not secure since everyone can attempt to input other ppl account password even if the retry limit is 5. Besides, it is so ridiculous that the first login page shown the user name even there have some wordings hidden. It’s absolutely not secure if the phone is fall into others, people can easy to guess and get the user name. Pls remove the user name asap in order to prevent any horrible issue happen. Finally, pls listen user’s comment and enhance the apps.

Your lack of proper communication and execution on the new password set up is very annoying and stressful as without notice I was possibly not able to make critical payments. I am still having problems with my internet login now so having to use my App which may be your strategy but not my preferred way to bank. It was much easier and simple to transfer $ using FPS of previous App version. Used to be just type in name of receiver in just one step, now making thing more complicated n time consuming.
Log-in password used to be 8 digits, now only 6 digits with less security and need to display whole email address.

Great update. First there’s the laisee feature that allowed me to craft my digital red packet. It’s timely, warm-hearted and fun. Then there’s the new budget page. There are many fundamental things that needs to be addressed on this app. But a solid update overall!

Important message sent one day after the transaction

Through mobile app, everything is expected to be happened instantly. It is hard to believe any message sent through the mobile app to the customer is 1 day after the transaction. In case, if there is insufficient fund in the account that cannot repay the bill, the customer might be received the failure message after the due date of the bill.
Also, it is quite confused for the customer to mix up the “bell” as importation message. Why don’t HSBC make an “envelop” just like other forum group to be the short cut for the important message and make a red dot to alert people easily.

It is glad to see that hsbc is finally separating local payments into self transfer and third party transfer. The previous design was so confusing and I had to teach my grandma all the time.
The transfer to my account is so smooth and loads fast. It would be much better if we can have the same design for third party payments.
What’s more, when I click transfer from the account page, it will automatically pre-fill the withdrawal account. This should have been done loooooong time ago! Thanks for upgrading it.

My software is v 12.5.5 and the app won’t load. A message appears telling me to install the latest compatible app version but nothing happens when I tap the download button except the message reappears. Prohibitive barrier for users with older iPhones

HSBC requires users to use the mobile security key (ie the app) to unlock features such as trading, accessing investments, etc, but it is prohibitive for users with older versions of iPhone that cannot support the app. The most recent requirement of iOS 13 means most phones are unable to update the app, hence unable to use most of the features of online banking. Either fix to app to make it accessible to more phones, or start providing other methods as alternative to the mobile security key.

My iPad has been upgraded to the latest IOS 15 version in the last weekend. Since then the HSBC app does not work and prompt for an app update. However, when I click for requesting an update, the new app can never been loaded to my iPad, not sure if there is compatibility issue!
As a remark, this is the second time I experience this situation, last time is just 3 week’s ago when I used my old iPad that is still running on iOS 12.5.5.
In my view, HSBC should pay more attention on app compatibility issues and ensure smooth update experience before forcing customers updating the hsbc app.
Overall, this is a very frustrated experience and the problem is still unresolved.

Never had this before. I couldn’t open the original HSBC app yesterday as it requires an update, so I clicked update but it repeating the msg iOS13 above is required to update this app. I had no choice but to first update my iOS system to iOS15 reluctantly. Piping out the same msg. again and again saying “this app requires iOS13 or above... do you want to download an older version instead” so I clicked download but nothing happened, it just repeating the same msg.
And this morning after successfully updated my iOS system to 15, the HSBS app can’t even open at all, don’t know whether I should delete and reinstall it now because I have all my login settings saved on it. Wasted so much time, very annoying : (

Absolutely love the fact that they have an app for iPad. Functions are basic but they cover most of the mobile banking necessities. My main gripe, though, is the fact the app doesn’t support landscape mode.
This is a huge deal breaker for me as I prefer to have my mobile banking and my budgeting apps side by side on the iPad, and I primarily use it while on my Magic Keyboard.

Lacking the functionality of downloading or exporting e-statement or advice

One of our routines of using bank services is to check and download e-statements. Without this functionality causes inconvenience occasionally, following the alert to check the latest statements only to find that we are not allowed to download them.

Having so many hk bank accounts, I never had one that has such clumsy and users unfriendly design. The memorable answer and the second password is so confusing that my account gets locked being an infrequent HSBC ebanking user. The double verification is totally unnecessary! Plus i cannot figure out at all how to switch users once logged in!
Got so many names for passwords that causes so much confusion.
To reset password, u need to answer memorable questions set months ago. How ridiculous! I don’t even remember if I typed any space bars or capitalise any letters in my default answer.
This is the worst experience ever.
Only if I could give negative stars!

As the title says, I must say I’m very impressed with the new design, new layout, and very user friendly. It’d be a hell lot better if dark theme is developed.
The only flaw I spotted is the activation of “debit card”, when I clicked on it, I saw the application for a debit card instead of what the website said “Manage Debit Cards”.

Firstly, thank you so much for working so hard on the app development! HSBC app is the best bank app I’ve used ever. It amazingly covers all the features I need, account balance and details, investment, insurance, settings, etc.
At each release I can always see big improvements in each function, like the feature of “gain/loss” in the “investment” this time, really surprised me! I felt so painful before to calculate the total gain/loss by myself, and today I spotted the feature right after I opened the app. What a great surprise! Same feeling when I saw the detailed information in the section of “insurance” and “rolling balance” in the account details.
Again, I very much appreciate all your effort!

Stocks Portfolio auto calculation of total unrealized gain/loss doesn’t add up correctly and it doesn’t show one of the stocks which was purchased, there’s a bug somewhere...better not to rollout these features until UAT has been properly and exhaustively executed...quite disappointed on the new feature’s implementation with a quality bank.

I have recently change my phone from iPhone 6 to iPhone SE2. Now I amI have an issue when using the HSBC app with my iPhone SE2. When viewing the e-statement, it couldn’t show the statement and it’s only a blank white page, but this didn’t happens when I was using my iPhone 6.
App already updated to the latest version. Please help to fix this issue.

It doesn’t work.
After keying in the mobile security password I am told the service is temporarily unavailable, try later. When is later? Tomorrow, next year? Who knows? Maybe HSBC do, but they won’t tell you.
Asked through the helpline and in the branch and got a friendly but unhelpful shoulder shrug.
Asked if there was anyone I can turn to for help. Same response. So I can only access my own account by going to the branch - like I did last century.

I have no idea why substantial changes were made and approved when people had already got used to the current setting. This is not client centric. Changes were made to the satisfaction of the designer only.
Where has the language preference option gone? Stupid change!

Getting started is overly cumbersome and the app design is not intuitive. Why not just have big icons highliging the three or so things everyone will use e,g transfer money in Hk , transfer money abroad, statement checker, then a header all other. That said, after set up and getting used to the clunky design it’s a helpful too

Please add a function to delete the “previously paid merchants”. I used to pay the traffic penalty bill by credit card but the record of the bill as shown at the previously paid merchants is quite annoying.

The hotline service was very helpful ,her name should be JN she was very professional and had answer to all my queries.I was very worried as i had lost my wallet and all the cards she helped me to calm down and explained me everything that i need to do in order to be safe . If the name is wrong she is the one who was working on 28 july and received my call in 6:30 am - 8:00 am time frame .Thanks alot

There is the application error whenever I was trying to register my mobile Security Device service; and it always asked me to log out and re-log in again. The problem continues after that; waiting for the next update to remedy this issue

New function to display MPF Balance and also allow to Change investment instructions is very useful. I wouldn’t have tracked my MPF fund performance if this wasn’t on the app. And, because I was tracking I could decide at the right time to switch funds.

Was recently away and yet again issues with cards and being locked out of online banking. There is no easy way online to reset passwords for desktop or mobile banking. Phone calls to sort out issues are charged at expensive overseas rates ( there’s no overseas or internet based way of calling).
Had to come into bank for help and the whole process took 40mins.
It amazes me how they can call themselves the world’s local bank when they just seem to cause problems for everyone who banks with them.

No more select full payment to credit card?

It’s hard or useless to receive credit card transaction notification ( or bank transaction ) oversea after we change the SIM card during travel, but it will be great if we can receive this message via the app notification, as well as confirm invalid transaction, chat with customer service via the app.

For banking App, the readiness at day 1 of new iPhone release every year is very important. Well tested and updated is mandatory to support new iPhone giving the best customer experience as customers use the App for their financial activity daily. When Apple releases new iPhone every year of Sep regularly, banking App should also has been regularly supported and updated in advanced as a usual of customer expectation.

Thanks for wasting an hour of my life just to do 3 simple transactions, hsbc. A totally unstreamlined security process ( that was actually DANGEROUS since it asked me to repeat steps from scratch, creating more room for USER ERROR) plus terrible internet banking design that makes information hard to find and unclear to follow has made me annoyed and thinking about changing banks, because the thought of doing this every time I need to send money makes me want to rip my hair out. The most awful online banking experience I have ever dealt with by far.

Seriously - we all know it’s easier to lose your phone than your hardware token. I really really really prefer a hardware token over soft token.
Why can’t I have biometric login without switching to soft token? I don’t mind having reduced set of features because I enabled biometric login without using my phone as soft token as well but please - I just want to login and check my account balance or perform some basic stuff such as EasyPay. Am I asking too much?

I don’t really like to write reviews for applications, but weird complaint by another user made me make an exception! The current version of App is awesome! It was great with finger print and works even better Face ID! Good design, great user experience, fast transaction to credit card account. 5 stats!

It’s incredible how a bank can pour so much money into their IT and consistently get it wrong. Badly designed, frustrating to use, not always available (particularly at night)... the list goes on..... avoid using if you can .... this is so bad I’m considering taking my deposits elsewhere. In this day and age it’s not acceptable to have worst in class online services!

HSBC Service is seriously lacking. When you visit the centers they give constantly wrong information. I visited the Central location sometime ago and had a officer tell me that they did not have “Face ID” available for their online app. Also when any issue arises with the online app one must always call customer service. One example, when changing phones and logging into the online system it literally takes less than 5 minutes to set up with my Bank of American bank account but with HSBC you go through a whole process online to only end up needing to call the customer hotline. Very frustrating.

No more words to say. Just a rubbish, too slow and make the stuff became too complicated that it could be more use- friendly. I dun know why ur company just make this rubbish. Low efficiency ! Bad UI decisions, should never show sensitive information on main home page

Showing sensitive information such as account number and balance on main home page is a super bad idea. Users may login the app in all kind of situations where many of them are surrounded by other people. Especially when performing p2p payment, the app design may accidentally expose users’ sensitive information to others.
This should be fixed immediately.

App may fail when you may most need it

The app is very poorly designed. It is slow and options are hard to find. On top of it, it stops working on some days. Password reset process is opaque. The one time passwords they send do not work and you can end up locking your account.
My advice is to stay away from the app and rely on the old school security device because that is very reliable and mature.

Stock alert page is loading too slow

In stock alert section it loads really slow (it looks likes requiring 5 service request). Recommend to revamp that function like desktop ebanking which is separated

Major Bug in Touch ID Operation Since Recent Update

1. Unable to use Touch ID to log in the account even though use touch ID in the app setting is activated.
2. Fail to use Siri to make P2P payment because Siri says the app is unable to find the recipient name in the Phonebook which has been allowed in the App in the main iPhone setting.
