It’s easy to use to send/receive money with this but there’s one very annoying thing..
For some reason, the app is VERY VERY SLOW when it comes to sending SMS which you’ll need to use to get verification if you want to login. When I use other apps or sites for verification, their sms messages are almost instant. However, for this app, sometimes the SMS only start to appear after like 15 minutes… To make matters worse, if you request a verification code 5 times, you can’t do so until ANOTHER 24 HOURS LATER.. VERY ANNOYING…

Be award of the use of vouchers.
The vouchers validity is not depending on time of you press the confirm buttons but the unknown transaction time by payme. Vouchers may not be able to apply if their internal transaction time is after the validity period.
If you have any enquires, you could only wait the customer team to reach you with 48 hours. You can do nothing but wait them. When they finally reply you, it may be too late for your to rectify the situation by cancelling transaction direction by you with the merchant.

I have been a happy user until recently there is a not-minor bug and I waited and waited and it still hasn’t got fixed.
In the past when I paid an amount that was larger than my balance, it wouldaa as automatically top up my account to the exact amount.

I was trying to use my new year paymeXdonki ($20 giveaway upon purchase of $300 or more) coupon a week ago, but they had withdrew my reward because my failure in payment caused by their system malfunction, even though I had already do my 2nd payment for the same bill right after. Used Payme for couple of years for personal use with any problem. I just wanted to simply increase top up amount that required ID card verification and some information. Scan my HKID, wait to get verify but only get my account suspended. Contacted CS for the matter but they kept requesting for more personal informations without informing me why it was suspended in the first place.
In the end, they decided to close my account without any proof nor reason. I didn’t own them any money nor broke any terms and conditions rule. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pretty sure most people use this to pay friends and not businesses , would be a great improvement to hide the barcode scanner before the friends list , default homepage should be my transaction history which is way more important than who my friends paid which I literally think is a useless function. And my main concern is the missing badge and app notification when someone pays me , have updated to the latest version but only receiving email notices when I pay someone and have no idea when I’m getting paid.

It’s horrible to see an app has no “back”, “return” and “cancel” functions.
At first, I have tried to add my bank account to link up the “transfer money” function. Afterwards, I found that this bank account does not support the transferring to PayMe. Then, I want to add my another bank account to replace the first one.
Unfortunately this unfriendly app doesn’t have “return” function! So I can’t cancel the request of my first bank account and I can’t reset my second bank account as the transferring account too.
What’s next? I deleted this app and reinstalled it, since I want to clean my data on this app (because the app doesn’t have cancel function🙃). And when I tap on the button “yes, please reopen my PayMe account.” There is nothing happened, no any response. I tried for over 30 times so I finally realised this is a bug.
As an UX designer plus half engineer, I strongly recommend your company to hire more professionals. You are the app that Hongkonger uses daily, how come you did that bad in user testing?
Looking forward to your improvement.

I have changed my phone and updated for Face ID login. It keeps saying login error and asked for password reset after few trials. Up till now, I cannot reset and activate my PayMe due to no reset password email to me at all. It has been a month. My cash in PayMe is locked! Bad technical support!

Great app - some improvement recommendations

I doubt most people would use it to pay small bills with friends, everyday. As such, it does not make sense that the barcode scan window is occupying most of the screen while the space for choosing friends in the same screen is so tiny. I think the scan window should only pop up by choose and you need to improve the user experience for choosing friends (e.g. often chosen friends are on top and the people names should always be fully shown if possible).
Second, the limit for credit card is getting smaller and smaller. I would assume most people would set credit card as default then switch to saving as the limit is used up. At a point you don’t have enough limit with your credit card, it would be very helpful that you ask for authorisation from user then deduct the first part from card and second from saving by itself.
Last but not least, your “request” function needs to improve. Imagine there would be notification for one being requested but I have a lot occasions where people did not know I made requests until we spoke. Should you send email alert as well?

I changed my phone so it needs me to enter PIN again but unfortunately I forgot my PIN. Tried to get the PIN reset link through the “forget PIN”, but never receive PIN reset email and my account is now blocked. Sent enquiry to customer support for several times but every time I got the same answer to ask me reinstall and update the app to latest version. Even I repeatly mentioned I have already reinstalled and updated the app for tens of times, I still got the same answer. User experience is fine if no problem occur. Once a problem, even such simple PIN reset problem, it turns to a disaster.

Barely write review but I need to express my comments this time. This app updated to 2.0 recently and supposed the use experience will be upgraded as well. But the fact is, no. The app freezes several and the newly designed interface is not user friendly, compare to the last version. Need to click many buttons before paying to my friend, is it a joke by HSBC ? 1. Try to reset pin and password but never really receive the reset emails supposedly being sent to my email for few months.
2. After being able to receive the reset email now and try to login in via email,app screen shows error message that keeps saying account not found. So if my email account now can receive the reset instruction, why the account can’t be found? This is ridiculous and a total waste of time.
3. Have previously received money in the account when was able to login, so that means my money is frozen now because I can never gain access to the app because of these technical disaster of this app

Nevertheless, undoubtedly the one and only successful P2P payment system in Hong Kong. You have many imitators but none of them is as successful as Payme. It's even part of our language now: let me Payme you? Do you have Payme? It's great that we finally have our own successful payment system.

Error adding bank account

The credit card page cannot add Hang Sang bank account. I understand that you are two different companies, but I can find any sign to add a credit card after I entered my bank account information. Besides, the HKID uploading is awful. I can’t enter my codes manually and it takes me more than 2 minutes each time to take a photo that you can recognise. After changing the bank account information, I have to upload my HKID again. Why was that??? Really really poor operating flow.

No message notification on the app

When I send “request” payment to my PayMe friends, there is NO message notification appear on the app. After a week, they still haven’t pay me back the money even I sent “reminder” to them via PayMe. Besides, when I “pay” the money to my PayMe friends, I need to capture the payment successful screen to my friends because they don’t know when I pay them back the money. The problem is “NO message notification when “pay” or “request” appears on the PayMe app”. Please improve.

Downloaded for more than half year still unable to create an account. Robotic service when I tried to the CS team. Just wasted all my time dealing with the brainless CS team! Latest news was that my account is being SUSPENDED without further explanation. Just asked me MYSELF to call up customer service with further enquiries.... is that YOURS responsibility to call me instead to give me a good explanation WHY it is suspended? And the important is that I don’t even SUCCESSFULLY CREATED an so-called account!!! Plz just close down this apps if you have no resources to maintain instead of wasting people’s time.

I set the privacy to only sender and recipient can see the transaction but my friends still can see it. I felt unsafe to use this app. I wonder why a banking app with so much personal informations need to show your friend ? I can even see transaction which people I don’t know, why the Fxxx is HSBC is that doing ? One day people will figure out how to use these information to cheat others for money and hsbc will learn a big lesson.
Actually I am going to send a message to tease people who I don’t know , “ haha I will tell your wife that you bought a expensive camera, I have your transaction evidence. If you don’t want me to do that please donate to my account “

Convenient but how long does it take to increase limit?

This APP is easy to use and convenient but how long does it take to increase the limit? I have provided my HKID and now my APP is stuck on we will notify you shortly. I’ve got money I need to collect ASAP but I’m now completely locked out and will need to find some other way to have the money transferred to me if it’s going to take a while?! What does the approval of the request to increase limit depend on?

I downloaded the App two days ago and someone already transfer money to me successfully after i entre the bank a/c no.. However, when I try to pay money to others, i entre the Credit Card no. and scanned my ID, it says need time to verify my information and I can’t log in the payme account so far. What should I do? How long will it take? I can’t use it.

Don’t have any HK credit cards, and Amex wont work sadly, so couldn’t use this for a full year. Just added bank account, though kept failing and wasn’t telling me why. I figured it out eventually and already using it to pay back some dues. Overall, love it.

An app without business sense

Not sure if UAT was properly done, or if there is any people with business sense in the whole team
- default privacy to make transactions open to public is stupid! Having heard so many of feedback saying the same, payme still insists to make open to public as default. Do you know that this can cause bigger inconvenience than anything?
- can not adjust daily limit. Per FAQ, there is option under settings/limits to adjust. But there is no such function in the latest version. When I sent question to enquiry team, feedback was “pls get your app updated”. Darn! Do not waste my time to read your useless feedback!

Cannot offer me an account after I received payments from my friends

I was so surprised PayMe showed a message it can no longer offer me an account. I successfully used PayMe to receive payments from my friends. When I want to pay, it asked for my credit card and HKID. I did upload them and were accepted. But then it said it can no longer offer me an account. I don’t understand why it didn’t asked for all documents before allowing me to use PayMe. Now i have money in PayMe but cannot login to it. I am sure HSBC will return the money to me. But it’s so troublesome to do that.

I have tried this APP for few months. Everytime is failed with upload HKID. And said my ID is stolen and cannot register the same ID twice. I am the ID card owner and everytime I write to their support. They only unlock the account for me, and once I upload the HKID, same error appears and failed.
Even I am the owner of HKID and can prove I am myself in person and with any support. PayMe does not have a channel for me to unlink ALL my HKID account and let me to re-register.
Failed to ask for support by writing response inside the app and their response is standard robot machine language!!!
Error happened repeat and repeat for 6 mths but cannot solve the problem!

I’m appreciate that to use the “PayMe” and had good payment experience before. I received money from someone than I can send money to anyone few days ago, even I haven’t added credit card information into my account yet. It’s a very good and convenient app for using it.
But today, I’m very disappointed that I can’t send / pay to anyone since I don’t have any credit cards for registration.
Please consider my situation and I hope this app is more user friendly.

And it is now two days and I still dont have any instruction to recover my account.
When the app is suspended, I can’t access any of the function; the only page that shows is a message asking me to contact customer service, with no instructions or links or phone number.
And when I search in google and find the payme website, I was finally able to submit my request. Then I have received an email the next day saying (1) Send the enquiry via the app. (2) Send the enquiry via the payme website. Wake up HSBC, That’s what I did and it is a waste of time.
So please let me know, is there a protocol or workflow when a customer’s account us suspended? And have you let the customer knows what to do once that happen? Instead of wasting the customer’s time, try to solve the problem for once.

It takes ages to verify id for exceed $3000 limits. It was for one day and still verifying........ Trying very hard to send email to the help team but there’s a error message keep on asking you to try later!!!!!! Already 24 hrs. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡I tried to call the bank hotline but they’re not able to solve this issue. I got stuck and I can’t do anything. Feel like close this app but I’ve to get in the main page..... However, it was freeze on the verification page.

If your setting of privacy is ‘Friends’, your transactions will be seen by all of your friends.
Then, you may want to set it ‘Private’, so only the friend involved in a transaction can see that particular transaction, no other friend can see. But still all friends can see those transactions before you set it into ‘Private’.

So much talk about improving speed in the latest update. When I open the app, it stays in the start up red page and doesn’t load my account page.
Not sure how it is possible to push an update and instead of improving user experience, you killed the app.

I was a dedicated supporter of payme and successfully introduced this app to many of my friends. It was a great app, neat and easy to use. However, the using experience is getting worse and worse. I spent lots of time trying to get in the app and it usually failed. It is just horrible, if there is any good alternative I will just delete this unfinished app.

It’s a great tool to transfer / receive money from friends after activities. But it takes unpromising time for the HKID card verification which it took a day already and still verifitying. It makes me annoyed, as I can’t even transfer back the money to my bank account and I feel not secure that will my account suspended or frozen forever, then feel like thousands of money is gone... there is still no news from the CS after I’d submitted my query on help section...

This is very convenient for user , however it has so many bugs always ! I can receive money , after click the link , it is forever loading the page ! Also every time when I received money , it doesn’t show the receipt until I logout and login again. So frustrating ! A really convenient app indeed! Still quite buggy on every day use... it sometimes freezes and will have to reloaded. Otherwise, it’s great. Would be even better if features from the Splitwise app can be integrated, then it’ll be truly perfect.

The current build is extremely unstable, takes forever to add money and to pay. Sometimes balance doesn’t refresh or show until much later. I don’t know if it’s just buggy or the problems actually stem from the server level, but if your serious about being THE payment solution you simply have to get the basics fixed instead of spending more time on the social media aspect of it which has clearly been expressed by most users as an unwanted feature.

The app is the most convenient way of transferring money to friends in Hong Kong. After a dinner, you just split the bill. Organising a party together? Everyone can pay instantly with the app. It works across all banks and cards, which finally connects all banks together, without cost of transfer (which especially HSBC is so good at changing for).
It’s instant, and with instant confirmation, and lots of people have it, so good user coverage.
Only concern is on privacy. A bank that by default shares all your transactions and the description, is that really what you expect from a financial institution?
I’ve noticed from the start and set all my transactions on private, but it’s really awkward to see my friends pay each other for personal stuff, that are none of my business.
Please turn the sharing of transactions off by default.

This app is fantastic - saves on transfer costs to friends at other banks. Would be 5 star, except I do not like that the function relating to who can see your payments is automatically set so that everyone can see. I don’t even understand why this function is on there to be honest.
But can’t wait until I can start using this in other situations like taxis or for online purchases.

I was trying to register, I went smoothly until the process ID step, I took the pic, but got stalled, I could not retake or cancel the registration, for the past hour, no matter what I did, it always came back to this page of ‘it takes longer to process my ID, we will inform you shortly the result.’ It is really annoying! It should not take this long.....and has a step been missing in the development! Please shed some light as to what I can do! Thanks!

If possible, please create a function for the user to download the transaction records as pdf/Excel/Numbers file or statement. It’s hard to trace previous record. Loading time is a bit slow and really takes times to load records from the very beginning when PayMe just launch (I am a user with around 3 transactions everyday. )

1) really don’t want to see my friends pay to anyone , i think it’s a quit private thing. hope i can turn it off
2) maybe we can change our friends name or add a nickname ? coz sometime it’s confusing which may don’t know the actual name show in payme

A very good and convenient app but there are a few stupid features....
(1) I have no idea why someone else need to see others' PayMe activities, do you think PayMe is a social app like Facebook, twitter, etc?
(2) Why the privacy default has been set to "PayMe Friends" instead of "Only Us"? I was lucky to notice this before my first time use, but few of my friends weren't.
(3) Why I cannot delete my friends activities? I really have no interest to see their PayMe activities with their other friends!!!
(4) There is no more notification (except email) after you are being PayMe Friends. Is this a bug? I remember I received app notification before.

1) I have installed the APP for a while but today is my first time to use it.... i have linked my bank account and credit account as well, then was going add value into the Pay Me APP account, however, there is no response after I pressed the value added button. I have no way to add value into this APP account anyway...
2) Then I was thinking is it becoz the APP is old version, so I went to APP Store to update the APP. I reopened the APP after updated but a pop-up message came out and asked me to update the APP again, then I went to APP Store to check but it stated the APP in my phone is updated. Then I opened the APP again but that pop-up message came out again and it made me cannot press other button. At the end, I failed to use this APP.
In fact I want to try new method but very bad user experience! I think I will back to use the most original and safe online banking to transfer money in future!

This update is not well tested before debuting. PayMe allowed friends without PayMe app to receive money, and now, I cannot even send money to friends without the app. The previous version allow me to send money to my friends through whatsapp, messenger and line, but now, only whatsapp and message to choose, AND IT DOESNT WORK!

Transferring money to different banks online has been one of my problems since I moved to HK as the banks require adding other accounts as payee which is a complicated process. Now I don't need to worry if I don't have cash when I eat out with my friends on a restaurant that only accepts cash as they can pay for me then I can simply Pay Me them. Again I would say, that's so convenient!

My fd cannot receive payment via whatspps

I initiated my payment to a fd for the first time via Whatspps but she cannot get anything from the link as it says the payment is either collected or cancelled. But my credit card has aldy been debited and I cannot do anything now. The description doesn't show or provide any support for solution.
