Pls fix orientation problem

Ever since I changed into iP17 and ios26，there are various problems occurred. I cannot push the kindle screen up like others when reading. I must close the book and the main menu in order to do so and switching to other apps. Then the layout’s orientation cannot stay horizontally whenever it opens with the cover page which is always vertical. It may open horizontally only with the text centred one-third of the page and I have to manually turn the mode on and off to get the normal horizontal view. Pls fix these ASAP.

1) Some Simplified Chinese characters appear on the 'Home' page when using Traditional Chinese as the system language.

Downgrade

While some functionality is improved (collections now syncing with the iOS Kindle Apps) the graphics are much worse than the Kindle classic app. The book icons are so small it is difficult to read the titles, text is slightly blurry and the overall reading experience is worse as a consequence. As someone on Reddit commented, this appears to be the unaltered iPad app offered up as a “new and improved Kindle App for Mac”. I hope Amazon will invest some time and effort into improving this to work properly on a Mac.

Wonderful!

I’m on my 14 days grape cure. It’s tough but a wonderful journey.

Grateful for the author wrote the grape cure book and share her insight n discoveries. This book gave me infos n details to prepared me throughout the journey.

I chose the grape cure because I have a lump on my breast and under my chin n next to my throat. I did liver flush 2 days before I started the grape cure. Now on my 14 days grape cure, the lump under my chin loosen, flatten n reduced 2/3 of the size. The lump on my breast flatten n reduce 3/5 of the size n less pain. I’m on my second stage of grape cure, will continue

New "Kindle" app is Clunky

The new Kindle app (version 6.85.3 as at 4 Nov 2023) is very clunky compared to the no longer supported Kindle app for Mac (renamed Kindle Classic).

Eamples of problems with the new Kindle app include:

1. The interface of the new Kindle app (6.85.3) is very slow to react to use input when compared to the Kindle Classic running alongside it.

2. The new Kindle app collections page is strangely under the Sort menu.

3. The collections themselves have small labels with small icons inside boxes and require more clicks to get to a collection.

4. The method of adding an ebook to a collection is clunky and less intuitive than the Kindle Classic method.

5. The Collections window is very small, and requires scrolling through the collection list to find the collection you want to add a book to.

6. Even so there is a bug so that not all collections are displayed in the tiny collections window. Far better to go back to the layout in the Kindle Classic.

7. The new Kindle app has no preference settings, or control over background colours. It does not feel or perform like a genuine app.

Another problem is that despite already having Kindle Classic running, all ebooks are being reimported into the new clunky Kindle for Mac app (v 6.85.3) via the internet (there was no popup asking whether I wanted to import the local ebooks from Kindle Classic). While this is happening I get many messages saying you have reached your limit for downloading some ebooks asking me to remove the ebook from some other apple device. It appears the new Kindle for Mac is being treated like a new device despite it being designed to supersede the Kindle Classic.

In summary, the new Kindle for Mac (v 6.85.3) is a big step backwards compared to the Kindle Classic.

Kindle is simply Awesome!!

I’ve been using Kindle for years, its replaced my dusty books that take up space in my small apartment, and made my library totally mobile. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection every now and then and you read on the go anytime. Sure - there are some drawbacks for reference books, but there is also a lot of positives, I can screenshot stuff for building notes, and quickly annotate or highlight texts. I know a lot of people who like the feel of books, but Kindle is environmentally friendly and has made it easy to carry books about. I do like bookshops though - if Kindle could somehow support those guys it would be the best!

Why Kindle?

Living space in Hong Kong is very limited, so there’s no room for a library, or even a few bookshelves. I ran out of room for hard copy books. My Kindle never runs out of space. Plus, it’s easier to slip in my purse and handle on public transportation than most books I read.

Perfect in every sense

I switch between kindle and this app a lot. The app and my Kindle are always in sync. I have not experienced ever that the app did not update me about the ‘recent page’. There's a big in the latest version. It will go to page one everytime when I open a book instead of resuming the last page I read.

Useless App

If you want the just look at the cover pages of the books you purchased, this is the app for you. But if you want to read them, it is no good. Even on extremely fast WiFi it takes 30 minutes to download a magazine. It does not download in the background-you have to keep it on your screen. This app has existed for more than 10 years. Do they even have a dev team working on this.

Comparison with print

I love the scroll feature. It still doesn’t have the flexibility of being able to read, for example, p 347, 492, 601. It doesn’t quite have the flexibility of a print book in this respect. As an avid reader just trying to provide feedback.

Of course Kindle has many fantastic features that print doesn’t and I’m gradually shifting away from print.

The app is easy to use with built in dictionary.

You are forcing me to print screen and save the photos into pdf so that I can mark up on the book like I would normally do in a real book. Even iBooks have it, why can’t your kindle app do the same thing? Highlight and mark up. I want that in the update.

Hard to change country

I have two kindle accounts in different country, but the app sticks to one country that I cannot login to the other account unless I change the language of the iPad. Could there be a place to change the country of the store just like that in the Mac version? That would help a lot

Lost notes and highlighted sections

Some notes I saved and text I highlighted were lost. This is big issue!

Sluggish at times(fail to flip pages back and forth) and I m using the huge iPad Pro which is the fastest iOS device.

They should introduce a way to quickly switch pages... for books with questions and those answers are many pages behind so I can check answer easily.
