A really, really horrible app
Valve is enforcing everyone to use their mobile steam app just for some stupid useless steam guard feature. The app rarely gets updated, crashes very often, painful ui designs, irresponsive and your account can still be easily get hacked even when you have setup steam guard. The worst of all is that the app often logs you out without notice and you cannot even login again because you just lost your steam guard by that. It is very disappointing that such big company do not even have such capabilities and responsibility to keep the app functioning or either make the app pleasant to use.

Amazing with problems
It’s amazing, few problems tho. iPhone X compatibility, it’s been quite a while since the iPhone X came out, please get rid of the top and bottom giant black lines now. Also, whenever I go into a conversation by clicking on the notification, it would open up the same conversation twice, which means if I was in the conversation before I’d have to close three conversation pages before I can go to anywhere else. Not huge problems, but big enough that they’re worth pointing out

You need an invite from valve to use it
Just log in normally. It will deny entry, but wait for a few days then check your steam acc. You could receive an invite then.
When you do get it, it's the whole steam community on your hands. Great app valve, I would partly understand why hl3 is late.
